Electricity sector Chief Executives from 61 power companies – members of Eurelectric – jointly producing 2 500 TWh electricity per year, equivalent to over 70% of total European power generation, gathered in Brussels on 18 March 2009 to discuss the most crucial policy questions facing Europe’s electricity companies and their customers. They handed over to EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs a declaration committing themselves to achieve a carbon-neutral power supply by 2050.
